DHS Announcements October 16, 2019

Today’s Lunch:  General Tso’s chicken, Asian brown rice, garlic broccoli, carrots, and fruit

Tomorrow’s Breakfast:  Biscuit and gravy, fruit, juice, and milk

Sophomores- anyone that is interested in the HOBY Leadership Conference please stop in guidance for more information.  One sophomore will be chosen to attend Illinois Wesleyan June 18-21.

 

Representatives from Balfour will return on Friday, October 25 during 5B lunch to collect order forms from Sophomores for class rings and from Seniors for any graduation items.  Seniors, if Balfour did not get your measurements for a cap and gown, please stop by the office.   

 

Are you ready for cookies?  Cookies from the Choices class will return in 1 week.

 

Seniors:  Our FAFSA completion night will be held at the high school tonight from 5-8 pm.  This is an open-house style event where you can come and leave anytime during that time frame.  Please stop in guidance for a list of what you need to bring.

 

Any junior or senior that is interested in majoring in Criminal Justice please stop in the guidance office for information about a job opportunity.

 

Attention French club:  We will show The Nightmare Before Christmas in French with English subtitles on Tuesday, Oct 22 in Hibbs Auditorium.  French club members can receive one stamp in their passport for this event and additional stamps for each non-French club person.  No signup is necessary.

 

Juniors and Seniors:  A representative from Lincoln College will be visiting Du Quoin High School today at 1:30. Please sign the list in guidance if you are interested in attending.

 

There will be an NHS meeting for NEW members on Thursday (10/17) @ 7:30 in Mr. Jones' room.

 

Student Senate and/or proposed members of Student Senate, going forward, please get into the habit of routinely checking your email for updates.  Thank you.

 

Pep Club Members:  If you are interested in painting a pumpkin for the Pink Out Game on October 25th, sign up outside Mrs. Miller's room.  Let's go pink for breast cancer awareness!!

 

Congratulations to our September student of the month nominees:  Ayanna Dunklin, Shelby L. Harris, Ben Hill, Maddie Robison, Lauren Bauman, Ethan Morris, Mady Saul, Sophie Miller, Emme Darnell, Quinn Smith, Nick Depyatic, Ella West, and Elizabeth Loyd.  Our winners are Ella West, Sophie Miller, Ethan Morris, and Emme Darnell.  Stop by the office to pick up your prizes.

 

Art Club meeting Thursday after school. If you've not paid for your shirt yet you have until the meeting to do so. At the meeting we will be discussing Halloween activities, meeting will end at 3:40.

 

Hey, DHS Students:  We are going to "Raid" the Nashville Hornets on Friday night!  Wear BLACK to the game for a "Black Out" against the Hornets!  Go Indians!

 

 

 

Friends of Rachel Club will have a meeting after school in the Library to start working on the project for this month. If you can not make it, we will meet again next Monday and Wednesday to finish the project.

 

The next Book Club meeting to discuss The Graveyard Book will be Tuesday, October 22 after school. Snacks will be provided.

 

The after school program is looking for Juniors and Seniors who are members of FFCLA, NHS, FBLA or another leadership club who would be interested in tutoring during the after school hours. If interested, see Ms. Kelly.

 

HOSA will be meeting tomorrow at 3:20 in room 113.  We will be electing chapter officers.  Reminder that dues of $15.00 are due by the 23rd.
