Dear DES Families,
This month our Choose to Be Nice character trait is HONESTY. Students have weekly lessons focused on our monthly focus throughout the school year. Last Friday students learned about why it is important to tell the truth and to be honest. Our early elementary students played a “what would you do” game practicing answering various scenarios reflecting their understanding of honesty. Our suggestion for parents of these students in creating a home connection is illustrating or discussing three ways they can be always be honest at home. Our upper elementary students worked on honesty by creating “choose your own truth telling adventure” stories. You can help in their learning by asking your student to share their truth telling adventure with you and relate a time when you were faced with taking a similar decision.
