Du Quoin CUSD 300 celebrates student proficiency gains and growth on 2024 Illinois Report Card

Du Quoin — Du Quoin CUSD 300 today celebrates proficiency and student growth measures and student success indicator gains, as the Illinois State Board of Education releases the 2024 Illinois Report Card, a detailed look at student performance data from the 2023-24 school year. These gains reflect the district’s investments in data analysis, school improvement planning, advancing our curriculum and instructional resources for literacy and math, and identifying advanced coursework for CTE and core curricular areas.

“We are a district of dedicated faculty, staff, and administrators fully committed to delivering a high-quality education to every student,” said Diana Rea, Acting Superintendent. “All of our schools placed great efforts toward school improvement initiatives and we are thrilled to share the positive advancements in our schools as outlined on our school report cards, which reflect the diligent efforts and commitment to ensuring the students of Du Quoin receive the best possible education.”

One component of the School Report Card is the annual summative designation. Illinois is required by federal accountability law to assign each school a descriptor of how well it is meeting the needs of its students. This designation is based on several indicators of academic performance, including literacy proficiency, science proficiency, English language arts and math growth exceeding the state average.

All three of the schools in the District are rated Commendable. We are proud of our designations this year and have much to celebrate. We will continue in our school improvement efforts to advance the learning gains for all our students. With your partnership, we can sustain these gains and continue to make improvements reflective of academic programs and school quality measures of success.

In addition to the achievements in the past year, Du Quoin CUSD 300 is committed to continuous school improvement. In the upcoming school year, our educators and administrators look forward to focusing on strategies to address chronic absenteeism, continue increasing the graduation rates and fostering continued proficiency across all disciplines. Du Quoin CUSD 300 will engage parents, families, and community partners in its ongoing efforts as designed and outlined in each school improvement plan.

Additional highlights from the 2024 Illinois Report Card include:
