The Orientation to Health Occupations and CNA classes are collecting change as part of z100s Quest for a Million Pennies fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. If you have change you would like to donate, please drop it off in the nursing office.
Student Council is gathering items for St. Jude patients such as toys, dolls, books, crayons, earbuds and headphones, and teen toiletries. Please check the lists posted around the school for more items. You can drop your donations off in the office or Mrs. Robison’s room, room 115. All items are appreciated.
FFA members will be selling a variety of meat sticks and jerky for $1.00 throughout the month of February.
The Art Club will be selling Crush Grams during lunch today and Wednesday, February 12th. Crush Grams consist of a Crush soda (orange or strawberry), sucker and skittles for $2. Grams will be delivered before school on February 14th.
The Choices class will be selling cookies today during both lunches.
Make plans to attend the 2020 FCCLA Sweetheart Dance. FCCLA cordially invites all Du Quoin High School students to attend the Sweetheart Dance. The dance will be held on February 22, 2022 at the Du Quoin American Legion from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Tickets will be on sale February 18th --21st in the Family & Consumer Science Room --Room 108--from Mrs. Stacey. Permission slips and forms for out of town guests are available in the office. Tickets will be $10 each. This year one lucky ticket buyer will WIN an Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet. So be sure to buy your tickets!
Students please do not open doors for anyone when doors are locked. Only faculty or staff should open locked doors to allow individuals in the building.
Sophomores: If you need to check out candy bars, turn in money for candy bars, or get additional cookie dough order forms, please stop by Mrs. Robison's room (right across the hall from Mrs. Miller) to do so. Thank you!
French club will have a bake day on Thursday, Feb 13 after school in Mrs. Stacey's lab. There are only so many spots available. Any French club members that would like to reserve their place in the kitchen, please sign up in Mrs. Dunavan's room.
Art Club meeting Thursday after school, we will be putting the crush grams together.
Friday, February 14 is a school improvement day. We will be running a PM "C" schedule.
There will be a meeting for all girls going out for track on Wednesday, February 12 during ELT in the auditorium.
Juniors: A representative from Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) will be here Wednesday, February 19th at 9:00 am. Please sign the list in guidance if you would like to attend.
Congratulations to AJ Rice for his second place finish in Original Comedy at the IHSA Regional speech meet in Carbondale this past Saturday. AJ also finished 4th in Radio. As a result, AJ advanced to IHSA speech sectionals in Belleville this weekend in both events. This truly proves that AJ is the second funniest person in southern Illinois. Way to go AJ and good luck at Sectionals.
Congratulations Kiersten Shadowens on qualifying for IHSA speech regionals this past Saturday. Kiersten will advance to sectionals this weekend at Belleville West competing in Informative Speaking.
The Friends of Rachel Club would like to Congratulate the Indianettes on their 1st and 2nd place trophies that they earned this past weekend at their last regular season competition.
We would also like to Congratulate Addison Carver who received the rising star award 2 weeks ago at the Indianette competition.
Congratulations to Emee Darnell on receiving the Senator Paul Schimpf Scholarship. Emee was one of the few selected from this region to receive this scholarship.
Mathletes will have a meeting and practice after school tomorrow, Wednesday the 12th.
