May 1, 2020
DES families,
As a reminder we will have our last at-home packet of learning materials, for May 11 - May 15, will be available for pickup on Mon., May 4 and Tues., May 5 from 8AM - 1PM. The packet, which includes STEAM activities for the final week of student work, is hyperlinked as a convenience so you do not have to make a special trip to the school to get it. We will have a container for any completed work you want to turn in at this time also. Additionally we will have boxes to collect any textbooks and library books for return to school. Please look for those boxes by grade level.
Secondly I need your help! Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I have some ideas to help you reach out and let your teacher know how much he/she is appreciated. You might make a video, picture message or send an email with thank you thoughts for the year. If you would like to send a physical card, they can be mailed to the elementary school and will get to your teacher.
Finally, next Friday, May 8 we will finish the final chapter of our #onebookconnect story. At 1PM the "animal guy" who conducts our yearly Wildlife show, will be joining me on Facebook (@duquoinelementary) live to answer any student questions about skunks as a culminating activity for A Boy Called BAT. If you have questions for our animal expert, send them my way or enter them as comments on our Facebook page event or post. I hope you can join!
