DES Families,
Next week marks the return of all our 3rd grade students in our "return to learn in person" plans. So far the plan is going well and we are looking forward to the return of our 4th grade students the following week. As a reminder, we do not have school on Tuesday, Nov. 3 because of the Election Day state holiday. We will not hold a remote learning day next week on Friday, Nov. 6. At the elementary, all K - 3rd and our Schedule B 4th grade students will attend school on Friday, Nov. 6. This does differ from the middle and high school plan for next week which does shift attendance days. The only attendance day we are changing is Friday, Nov. 6 for our 4th grade Schedule B student group and all K-3rd grade.
I have been getting questions concerning the Chromebook rental program. Again, this may differ from the other schools in the district, but we are not asking for the Chromebook to return to school. We are getting tablets, which will replace Chromebooks for our Kindergarten and 1st grade students. Students in these grade levels who have a Chromebook will be asked to return the Chromebooks for replacement of the tablet. Those will be returned to the classroom labs for in school use by our 2nd - 4th grade classes. Then we will contact families of 2nd - 4th grade students with Chromebooks that are needed at school based on individual classroom needs. We want students to have devices at home should to support the need to complete work online, if in an isolation or quarantine event, should it be required.
