Dear DES Families,
As I write this message, I was reminded today that we have fewer than 30 days of school remaining. Wow, it always such a surprise how quickly, even in the midst of a pandemic, the school year comes to a close.
The teachers are working so hard to get every single minute of instruction completed this year. It has been a labor of love and desire to return fun to our student body. Speaking of fun, the book fair is returning the week of April 26 thanks to the hard work of our PTO officers. The fair will be held outside to reduce the mitigation risks and will be open for families at dismissal from 1:00 - 2:00 PM. Students will shop during their library class. The fair will be held in the outdoor pavilion on our playground. We encourage all who are able to take advantage of this unique opportunity to buy new books and help our library in the process.
Reminder to our Kindergarten families - - next week Kindergarten students will not attend school on Friday, April 23 because of screening. There will not be Google meetings or packets to complete and return. We ask that you complete the regular daily literacy and math practice on Friday. This includes sight words, letter sounds, counting, patterns and simple math addition. Please reach out if you have questions and share this news with friends and family.
Finally we are working on an ABC theme countdown to the final day of school. The countdown will begin on Tuesday, April 20th. As soon as the theme ideas are finalize by the leadership teacher team, I will send it out to all families. We're looking forward to the opportunity to build some creative fun ideas into these last few days.
We hope you have an enjoyable evening and please do not hesitate to reach out if we can be of service to you and your family!
