Du Quoin Elementary families,
Celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week with us! This yearly event to say thank you to teachers around the nation is being held May 3 -7, 2021 this year. The big day is Teacher Appreciation Day on May 5, but teachers are just so great that they get a whole week to savor our appreciation. We hope you and your student will find a unique way to thank teachers, staff, bus drivers, secretaries, custodians and our kitchen staff.
This past year has been, by far, the most challenging I have seen in my 30+ education career. We have had to continually adjust and be flexible with our eyes consistently focused on our students and how to best meet each student's need for academic progress and emotional support. Educators change the lives of millions of children every day, and their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom!
Next Friday, May 7 we will be conducting our Erin's Law lesson in classrooms. Information concerning this lesson will be coming home in student's backpacks. You can also access it here. Please reach out to me or your child's teacher if you have any questions.
Finally thank you to the families of our 3rd and 4th grade. We had near perfect attendance for the state assessments this week and our students worked hard to demonstrate what they know, understand and can do. Thank you for your support and continued effort to encourage your student to perform at their best and persevere through challenges.
With Papoose Pride,
Diana Rea, Principal
