Du Quoin Elementary families,
First we want to thank the community, PTO, Domino's, Marks Bakery, Baked on Division, Modern Woodmen and all our families for helping or contributing to our Teacher Appreciation Week. Each day our educators were celebrated with thank you notes and goodies to help them feel valued and respected.
Next week we are holding special outdoor activities day for each grade level. We have games and other fun recreation planned to finish our year! We ask that you make sure to apply sunscreen and send sunglasses and/or hats for these extended recess play events. If the weather does not cooperative, we will move events inside.
As you'll remember from our One School, One Book title, the author reveals at the end that "Names are powerful and so is destiny, but a person's will is more powerful than both put together." So to culminate our Rump book, we have a hallway display focused on our future. Everyone in our school, educators and students, wrote their will for the future on a feather. Now we have "wings and we're ready to fly." Check out the photos of our ready to fly student selfies in this file.
Finally the PTO has the following message:
The PTO would like to say thank you to our community, principals, librarians, office staff, maintenance, teachers and of course our students, for making the spring book fair an amazing success! The elementary and middle school libraries were each able to add 50 new books for the students to enjoy! A special thank you to all the volunteers for donating your time to help out. We hope everyone has a wonderful and healthy summer!
Watch for the final newsletter of the year next week highlighting our retiring faculty and staff members: Larry Alvarado, Dean of Students; Patty Aue, Intervention Teacher; and Linda Duncan, Intervention Aide.
With Papoose Pride,
Diana Rea, Principal
