Golden Apple Scholars of Illinois Program is now recruiting high school seniors to apply for our teacher preparation program. Scholars are provided with extensive teaching experience and advanced preparation to supplement their college curriculum, academic support throughout college, college tuition-assistance and support (up to $23,000), and mentoring during their first years of teaching. In return, Scholars commit to teach in Illinois schools-of-need for five years after college graduation from an Illinois partner university.
FBLA bonfire will be tonight from 6:00-8:00PM at Bobbiann Hamlin's house. Please sign up to bring food items in Mrs. Gross' room #112. Don't forget the fundraiser and money are due tonight as well.
FBLA members that would like to hand out Trick or Treat for Can Good flyers on Wednesday, October 17 need to meet in Mrs. Gross' room after school.
FCCLA Members--The October meeting and pumpkin decorating contest will be on October 24th. Pumpkin decorating will begin at 3:30 and all pumpkins must be done by 6:00 PM. The October meeting will be at 6:00 PM. Make plans to attend--put it on your calendar!
A representative from Southeast Missouri State University will be visiting DHS Wednesday, October 17th at 8:30. If you would like to learn more about SEMO please sign the list in the Guidance Office.
Student Council is hosting a "Pink Prince Day." All male teachers who want to participate will be collecting money today and Wednesday for the Coach Kill Foundation. The teacher with the most money by the end of the day on Wednesday will be crowned "Pink Prince” on Thursday. Every male teacher who participated will dress up in Pink on Thursday, October 18th.
Thursday, October 18th will be "Pink Day." Wear pink to support breast cancer awareness.
There will be girls’ basketball open gym Wednesday from 3:30 to 4:30.
The next FCA meeting will be this Friday, October 19th during both lunches. Freshmen will meet with Coach Boyett in the Driver's Education classroom, and soph-seniors will meet with Coach File in Mrs. Stacey's room. Cost for pizza and drink is $3. Please sign up with Coach File or Coach Boyett.
All Seniors: Representatives from John A. Logan College are scheduled to speak to the senior class this Wednesday, October 17th at 10:00 a.m. They will present information on admissions, transfer programs, career education, financial aid and scholarships. An announcement will be made when you are to report to the auditorium.
There will be an engineering club meeting Wednesday @ 7:15 a.m.
There will also be an NHS meeting for officers Thursday morning @ 7:30 a.m.
Seniors: If you need some individual assistance filling out the FAFSA please come sign up in guidance to schedule a time to meet with the ISAC representative. She will be available to meet with you Wednesday, October 24 between 11-1.
Students attending the Les Miserables trip to the Fox in December, your final payment and permission slip are due to Mrs. Dunavan by Friday, October 19.
